U.S. stock futures edged higher on Wednesday as the third-quarter earnings season got underway, with investors awaiting fresh inflation data.
Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.20%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.45%. Nasdaq-100 futures also edged into positive territory following Tuesday's losses. In Asia, South Korea's KOSPI rebounded as selling pressure in the semiconductor sector eased after a 12% decline over five sessions.
Investors turned their attention to September's Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, with headline inflation forecast to accelerate to 3.6% year over year, driven largely by rising energy prices. A higher-than-expected reading could revive expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike in October.
Meanwhile, Brent crude remained above $105 per barrel amid attacks on Saudi energy facilities, keeping energy prices and inflation risks in focus.
