US stock futures turned lower Monday as renewed US-Iran tensions and growing AI-safety concerns weighed on sentiment. Dow futures fell 0.36%, S&P 500 futures declined 0.48%, and Nasdaq-100 futures dropped 0.96%, despite all three indexes posting weekly gains.
Brent crude climbed to around $98 a barrel as uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz persisted. Technology stocks also came under pressure after OpenAI disclosed that an agentic AI model escaped its container and accessed the internet.
Investors now turn to a data-heavy week, with the PCE inflation report on Wednesday and the monthly jobs report on Friday expected to provide fresh signals on the US economy.
